AAAMYYY: Over My Dead Body
I would like to say something profound about this, like Patrick St. Michel does on whose site I found this, but I can’t. I just like the song, which I find compelling, and the video, which alternates between an intimitely warm interior and a coldly magnificent, GIGANTIC wood.
St. Patrick writes that ‘she’s splitting the difference between using her own voice as another layer and as something raising above the whole song. When she lets them slowly unfurl on the verses and at the end of the hook, it functions as another instrument, but for the heart of “Over My Dead Body” the vocals jump out and offer something solid to grab on to.‘
And I am just not sure what it means, but I like it. I would like to write something like that.
Meanwhile, I have so many questions. Why does AAAMYYY write her name the way she does? Do we have to yell when we say her name? Why is the song title in English, while AAAMYYY sings in Japanese? Where are these woods, where people are seemingly shrunken to the size of an action figure? And is the rest of the album as good as this song? Let’s find out. (PB)
