New Ogre You Asshole album is a laid-back masterpiece
One of my favorite bands, Ogre You Asshole (yes, that is a weird name), has a new album out and it’s a cool, mellow, ultra-relaxed, dreamy, somewhat melancholic masterpiece. The long guitar notes remind me of Hawaiian music or maybe really laid-back Indo-rock. In fact, it has a lot in common with the music of Sakamoto Shintaro.
Atarashii Hito is the title of the new album, which means New Person. The lyrics of the song above could be interpreted as the lament for an unrequited love but it could be just as well about the virtual woman (who looks palpable enough) in the stunning video: “Although I cannot touch / I can really clearly see / Although I want to touch / It’s already disappearing.” (PB)
