Great metal band Zeroshiki should be much famouser
Yesterday I saw this incredible band, Zeroshiki (here’s 19 seconds of footage by myself) in a music pub in my town, Musicon. We were with 25 people or so, including the crew and the members of the other two bands that were featured that evening, which is kind of shocking because the place should have been packed. These guys are so gifted, and their sound is so full and warm, they should be world famous, like X Japan or something.
Zeroshiki has been around for about 20 years, but in different formations. The singer is a former shinto priest, I think I heard it said he was born in a shinto temple. He sings long notes, like hymns. The guitarist plays heavy riffs, strumming from time to time, adorning the wall of sound with lighter overtones, like a musical Gustav Klimt. Both the bassist and the drummer play like monsters.
They don’t have an album out yet. They’re touring Europe at the moment, tonight they will play in Antwerp, in Rocking Bull, together with Czech hardrock band Define Me, also a pretty good band. Here is their webpage, and they have some more videos on YouTube.
Musicon will host another great Japanese band on November 12, namely Guitar Wolf (GOD will be there too). See you there.(PB)
