A song about summer
Summer is already blazing, so here’s a song for you called L’été, which is French for summer. The summer. It’s by jazz pianist, composer and singer Hashimoto Ichiko and to be found on one of the different versions of a new compilation album I am very enthousiastic about, Heisei No Oto – Japanese Left-field Pop From The CD Age (1989-1996). I wrote about the album earlier, it’s really very good, with obscure Japanese popsongs from the nineties, a decade that lately feels like a kind of second hand sixties to me.
Unfortunately L’été is only on the vinyl version of the compilation, but there’s much to enjoy on the digital version, to be downloaded here. What I did is I downloaded all the missing songs (which are on the vinyl version) from YouTube, converted them and added them to my version. (PB)
