Paellas – like the eighties are still lingering on
Some Japanese indie bands seem to pretend the eighties never ended and Paellas (the name makes me hungry) is one of those bands. Even the video above looks like it was shot in 1981. Of course, the members of Paellas don’t look old enough to have consciously experienced the eighties (better in hindsight than they were at the time – I mean the eighties).
Also, the director of the video seems to have found a spot in Tokyo that could pass for a suburb of Manchester (if you ignore the un-vandalized bicycles).
Tokyonese band Paellas makes moody but uplifting post punk, new wave songs. You can listen to them on Soundcloud and even download a few of them for free. I like the remixes of their song Cat Out.
Buying some of their digital stuff may be done on Bandcamp which is quickly becoming one of my favorite websites.
