Some seriously beautiful pop rock by TAMIW
The band TAMIW, the members of which are from Kobe and Osaka, is not your average Japanese indy band. For starters, their music is not a variation of eighties Punk, New Wave, Manchester of surf rock, but a a mix of melodic rock, classical music and electronica, leaning heavily on sweeping strings, intricate compositions and vivacious vocals.
The above video is just wow! Usually the videos sent to me by indy bands are likeable but quite amateurish, not this elaborate. These TAMIW people take their shit seriously! Beautifully shot on some breathtakingly pretty locations and tightly edited.
Singer TAMI (like the singer of Suiyoubi no Campanella, she apparently chooses to operate under a pseudonym), who also plays the violin, is quite the dancer. Watch her give it her all and be really free in the dance sequence in the second half of this video.
Beautiful song, a track from their new album Flower Vases, their first full album, out in August and available too on iTunes and Spotify.
Some more tracks to give a listen here, here and here.
I don’t know about you, but I am a fan! (PB)
