Dreamy melancholy by Renata Zeiguer

Lately I’ve come across quite a few indie female singer-songwriters specialising in a dreamy kind of popsongs with a touch of melancholy which remind me of Twin Peaks.

Renata Zeiguer is my latest find. She is from New York and this year she released her second album ‘Picnic in the Dark’ on which, her website says, ‘she reckons with her past and her unwavering resolution to transcend inherited patterns and cycles that have held her back’.

There’s a lot of grief behind these songs, which makes the above video of her frolicking around on a nightly fair especially touching. It’s a beautiful song, playfully melancholic and sensuous. The whole album is permeated with this dreamy, sensuous quality. I highly recommend it. (PB)
