Bowie being a bit of a prick in Seville
Since his transition into a godly state all sorts of interesting tidbits concerning Bowie turn up. This is footage from his Glass Spider Tour in 1987, obviously, taken in the Spanish city of Seville, where Bowie and his then guitarist, also former school mate Peter Frampton, cause quite a ruckus searching for a place to have a beer.
This is Bowie at his most laddish, being a little bit of a prick I must say, making fun of a lady who seems to be upset about something concerning someone from Bowie’s crew, whom he calls a ‘Catholic prostitute’. A barber (“the famous barber of Seville”) is startled by the noisy group suddenly turning up in front of his shop and quickly draws te curtains.
The pair end up at the Plaza Mayor where Bowie, like a typical British tourist, condescends the camera-shy waiter and does that typical gesture mimicking someone handling a beer-tap and holding up two fingers, as jolly beer-drinkers always do.(PB)
