Otoboke Beaver; making short work of sexism
I guess you could put Otoboke Beaver in the tradition of Japanese girl bands like Shonen Knife, a bunch of cute women playing really loud garage punk. They may look cute, however, but in their songs they make short work of sexism and men treating women badly.
Otoboke Beaver hails from Kyoto and took its name from a local love hotel. The band formed in the summer of 2009 and consists of Accorinrin (lead vocal & guitar), Yoyoyoshie (guitar & vocals), Hiro-chan (bass & vocals) and Pop (drums & vocals).
They made their international debut this year with a compilation of their previous singles, you may download it here. (PB)
