Sunny Day Service: In za san agein

There’s that smooth mix of pop, disco, jazz and funk that George Benson made great in the early eighties after which bands like Level 42 and Jamiroqai followed and that I think is perfect for summer. In Japan they call it City Pop and it’s still going strong there.

Sunny Day Service is a fine example, adding a healthy dose of Japanese psychedelic rock from the early seventies to the mix. Enjoy, and have a smooth summer, reading books and drinking cocktails and mocktails by the pool. (PB)
