Another Japanese Christmas classic
First my apologies for all the subtitles spread all over the screen, Vietnamese and two kinds of Japanese, but I couldn’t find a version without.
Itsuka no merry Christmas is another classic Christmas song from Japan (I introduced you to Yamashita Tasuro’s ‘Christmas Eve’ earlier this week). It’s from the early nineties, by a rock duo called B’z, never brought out as a single, but just a track on their album Friends.
I think it’s a good song, well written, beautifully sung, ridiculous lyrics, about a guy buying a chair for his girlfriend and realising, on Christmas, how scared he is of losing her.
The song is extremely popular in Japan. It’s been downloaded as a ringtone like a gazillion times and often covered by other Japanese artists, like Gackt, together with Ayumi Hamasaki, who can’t sing very well.(PB)
