Guitar Wolf, to get you into the Halloween spirit

There are bands you forgive for doing the exact same thing for more than thirty years and Japanese garage punk band Guitar Wolf is one of those. I’d call their sound a mix of Iggy & The Stooges (specifically the album Raw Power) and The Ramones. They brought out a new album earlier this year, Love & Jett, which doesn’t differ significantly from their 1987 debut album ‘Wolf Rock‘ and from the thirteen albums they released between that album and Love & Jett.

But they’re doing it very well and they’re obviously still having a ball doing it, and that’s why I’ve been playing Love & Jett over and over again, especially during running and fitnessing. A little raw energy to keep myself going, and to chase away the boredom (God, sports is so fucking boring). It’s truly a delightful album.

What’s more, Guitar Wolf is coming to the Netherlands! Yes, November 12th they’re playing in rock café Musicon in The Hague, with The Hague garage punkers G.O.D. as their supporting act. Tickets are only 7,50 euros (10 at the door). So see you there. (PB)
