Ghost City
I don’t like the anime Ghost in the Shell all that much. It is long and it is quite boring. The film has stunning animation though, it’s on a level that no-one in the West thought possible in 1995 and even today it’s jaw-dropping. Also, I like certain scenes from the film a lot.
For instance this scene, in which the cyborg, who is the pivot of the story, is ‘born’, and someone, I can’t remember who, stands on a boat passing through a city, I think it’s Hongkong. It’s a haunting, hypnotic scene and it’s perfectly scored by a piece of music composed by a guy called Kenji Kawai.
It is, aptly, called ‘Ghost City’. Enjoy. (PB)
