Maria Chiara Argirò, goddamn beautiful music
You know what I think? I think thanks to Covid this time sees some of the most original, creative and goddamn beautiful music we’ve had in a long, long while. Take Maria Chiara Argirò, who is originally from Rome but has been living in London for the past eleven years. She’s a piano player who won her spurs in the British Jazz scene and co-operated with an Indie band I don’t know but maybe ought to check out and she recorded her latest album, Forest City (ponder upon that brilliant title for a while) during the the lockdown in 2020.
And I don’t know, but there’s a sense of passionate longing in her music, a deep, deep humanity. It’s just goddamn beautiful. One of the most goddamn beautiful albums I’ve heard this year and I heard a lot of goddamn beautiful new music these past months. (PB)
