Japanese Punk-geezers Anarchy are still kicking imperialist ass in 2020!

Anarchy is a pretty famous, or should I say infamous, Japanese punk band from the late seventies and early eighties, inspired by the Sex Pistols and The Clash. They stirred a lot of controversy with a song against the Japanese emperor (Hirohito at the time) after which they received death threats from right extremists.

The five band-members, former class-mates, all made it past 60 except for guitarist Mari, who died in 2017. This year they brought out a new album, Panku Shuri (check out this video of one of the eleven new tracks from that album), and were set to go on a live reunion tour, but Covid, you know. They did play a couple of gigs last month before small audiences observing the necessary Covid-rules.

And look at those geezers go! A lot more encouraging than Johnny Rotten turning into an “All Lives Matter” muttering Trump supporter. Anarchy still kicks imperialist ass. (PB)
