Nostalgic romantics from Kobe: The Fin.
If I hadn’t known they were from Kobe (of the wagyu beef!) I would have guessed they were some overlooked eighties band from Manchester or something. The Fin. (name includes a dot) released their first album, Days with uncertainty, in December of last year.
You can listen to the full album on YouTube. It’s synth-pop with a romantic, nostalgic feel. Say Echo and the Bunny Men meets Scritti Politti.
By the way, I don’t discover all this beautiful Japanese indie-pop all by myself. One of my fave websites is Beehype, which brings you new stuff from all over the world: Japan, Thailand, Colombia, Morocco, Turkey, Latin-America, even a little European mud-pool called Hotland or Hole Land or The Neverlands or something. It will surprise you how much interesting music is from there, that you will never hear on main stream radio stations. (PB)
